Your website, minus WordPress. One published price.

Why Laravel

Don't ask if Statamic will last.
Ask if Laravel will.

You've probably never heard of Statamic. That's fine. It's a content system built on Laravel, and Laravel is the part that matters. If you're paying to leave WordPress, you want the next home to be the last one.

If Statamic vanished, layers 03 and 04 keep running. Any Laravel developer can carry on from there.
#01 / The short version

Four facts, with where they come from.

64%

Laravel is the most-used PHP framework.

64% of PHP developers use it.

Craft

The rest of the field is moving the same way.

Craft CMS, another serious content system, is porting to Laravel.

Any

Any Laravel developer can maintain your site.

Not just Nathan. That's the point.

The repo is in your name

#02 / What it's built on

Parts you can name, all in your name.

One platform from one vendor, on Laravel, with the few add-ons the kit uses updated together.

  • StatamicThe editor you log into. A Laravel package.
  • LaravelUnderneath. Used by 64% of PHP developers.
  • Statamic ProThe license, in your name. Ludic includes it.
  • GitHub repoThe code, in your name from day one.
  • The databaseA standard database you own. Exportable any time.
  • Two add-onsSitemap and redirects. Not a WordPress-style plugin stack.
  • Hosting and backupsYear one included. Then Keep, which is optional.
  • Any Laravel developerCan pick it up. Give them the repo.
#03 / What that means for you

Three things you're not doing.

01

You're not betting on a small company.

Statamic is small: under 0.1% of CMS sites. If it disappeared tomorrow, your site would still be a working Laravel application, with the code in your GitHub repo. A Laravel developer could keep it running without Statamic's updates.

02

You're not locked to Nathan.

The license, the code and the repo are in your name from day one. If Ludic stopped existing, you'd hand the repo to any Laravel shop.

03

You're not on a plugin treadmill.

WordPress sites run core, a theme and a stack of plugins from different vendors on different schedules. In 2025 the WordPress ecosystem logged 11,334 new vulnerabilities, 91% of them in plugins. A Ludic site has one platform from one vendor, with the few add-ons the kit uses updated together.

#04 / The honest part

The caveats.

Smaller pool than WordPress.
There are more WordPress developers than Laravel developers. There are plenty of both, and Laravel developers tend to be the ones agencies hire for real software.
Not zero risk.
Laravel and Statamic have security fixes too. Fewer third-party parts means fewer places for one to hide, not none.
Not for every site.
If you run a big WooCommerce store or depend on one plugin nothing else replaces, WordPress may still be the right answer.

The compare page says when to stay.

#05 / Questions

Short answers.

What is Statamic, in one sentence?

A content system for editing your website, built as a Laravel package, so your site is a Laravel app underneath.

Is Laravel free?

Yes, it's open source. Statamic Pro is $349 per site once, plus $99 a year for updates after the first year. Ludic includes both.

Who else uses Statamic?

Laravel itself, for laravel.com.

If I leave Ludic, who do I call?

Any Laravel developer or agency. Give them the repo.

Twenty minutes. A price and a date.

Nathan answers. Lark is the scanner. Bring your URL and leave with the price, the date and what moves.
